About Adam Wiley

Adam has worked in finance in Dubbo since 2006 and first went out on his own in 2013, trading as Western Plains Finance Centre. He was then lucky enough to be offered a position in Adelaide — so he and his family packed up and left Dubbo for South Australia.

While he was in Adelaide, a more senior role came up in Melbourne. They packed up a second time, and Adam spent a couple of years there working at a scale and complexity you simply don't come across in a regional office. The intention was always to bring that experience home.

They came back to Dubbo in 2017, where Adam started Regional Finance Brokers with a laptop, a mobile phone, a website and not a single client.

Today the business manages more than 700 active home loans across Dubbo, the Central West and the rest of Australia. It was renamed Dubbo Mortgage Brokers in 2023, and it remains 100% locally owned and family run.

The rename wasn't cosmetic. Adam had decided to stop trying to be all things to all people and instead become genuinely expert in one thing, in one place: residential mortgages, in Dubbo and the Central West.

That narrowing has paid off in the way that matters most to a client — you'll usually get a straight answer to a difficult question on the first phone call, rather than a promise to look into it and come back to you. When you write nothing but residential loans in one region, you've almost certainly seen your situation before.

Before finance, Adam spent ten years as a graphic designer with the Daily Telegraph. He still brings an eye for how things are put together to a business most people find confusing to look at.

His view is that brokers matter more in the regions than in the cities. Branches keep closing across the Central West, and the ones still open can only offer their own products. Having someone local, who knows the market and who you can actually get hold of, counts for more than it used to.

Outside work
Adam lives in Dubbo with his wife and their two daughters, who both attend local schools, and two golden retrievers. He has a love of good food and wine, and brings the same enthusiasm to helping people across the Central West sort out their finance.
