We didn’t have a great experience with Adelaide Hills Home Loans and wouldn’t recommend using them for your home loans - Especially as a first home buyer. Initially, they were proactive—our first meetings with Brendan Knox were positive, and his team’s follow-up was good, which gave us the confidence to proceed. However, once we committed to using AHHL, everything slowed down significantly during the pre-approval process. After our first meeting with Brendan Knox, we were unexpectedly assigned to a different team member without any prior consultation. This lack of communication resulted in a poor customer service experience and confusion. Things deteriorated from there further. While we were actively bidding on houses, we struggled to contact anyone in the business at crucial moments. Eventually, we discovered through Brendan’s second-in-charge (2IC) that Brendan had left the company—without any notification via phone or email informing us of his departure. We felt for his 2IC, Benjamin, who seemed to be left picking up the pieces after Brendan’s sudden and seemingly unexpected departure. Ben took over our loan just as an offer was accepted for a property and were finalising pre-approval. While there were some delays and hiccups in Ben’s responses, he did help us secure a loan with our preferred provider at the lowest rate.. However, it’s worth noting that the initial options provided by Brendan and Ben in the first instance were higher interest rates than the one we ultimately found ourselves through Credit Union. On reviewing our contract, we also realised that Ray White received a kickback commission for a recommendation neither of us recalls making? Odd. I recently enquired with a question about our loan set up and Ben has recently moved on too - again, it would have been nice to be notified (suggestion: maybe set an auto-reply set to let you know who the next best contact is since there appears to be high turn over in your company).. it appears AHHL is going through a period of change and I would steer clear if you want to have a broker you can rely on over the years, or even just during your pre-approval and purchase process. Using AHHL added a lot of stress and uncertainty to our loan process… If we could do the process again, we’d likely go directly to a bank or find a broker who has been in a business for many years. Lesson learned!

Brendan and Ben have been amazing help. They have helped us through the process as first home buyers smoothly and stress free. They have been extremely knowledgeable, efficient and reassuring the whole time. Would highly recommend.
