About John McNamara

John McNamara is a mortgage broker who has over 30 years’ experience in the Banking and Finance industry. John commenced his finance career in 1981 with CBFC/CBA, and during that time he enjoyed several postings including, Manager Broker Finance, Manager CBFC Fleet Lease & Manager CBFC Floor Plan Section.

In 1994 he accepted the position as CBFC’s Sunshine Coast Area Manager, eventually accepting the position of CBA Relationship Executive to manage larger portfolio clients. In 2001 John resigned to take the opportunity to join forces with David Stone (Stone Goddard & Associates) forming Stone McNamara Finance, which was eventually changed to SMS Finance. John has extensive experience gained over many years in all forms of finance and managing one Australia’s largest finance company.

In July 2008 John McNamara took over the reins of 100% ownership of SMS Finance allowing David to slow down a bit into a company consultancy role. Then in January 2016 John formed a 50/50 partnership in the business with Colin Mason. In 2019 Joshua Carleton and Brenden Brial joined the company as company directors
