I will be eternally grateful for Marlene's patience, professionalism, calm and especially her responsiveness during what has for me has been an incredibly stressful past several months. I keep later hours than most, so would often email Marlene at strange times and days. I don't think I waited more than two hours for a response from her ever (not that, as I told her several times, I expected her to be available 24/7). Anyhoo, reacting (badly) to the crushing and unexpected news that I would be having to move out of my beloved rental property in mere months and enduring the brutal reality that is the Melbourne, and indeed Australian, rental crisis in which 50 people line up to inspect every property even remotely in my budget, I realised buying (by leveraging my only asset -- a flat I bought during better times in the UK) was really my only option. And so I found Liberty and Marlene. After scrambling and exploring several options to find a home, from studio flats, several unsuccessful conditional offers and guarantor loans, Marlene was there. She listened, gave advice and sprung into action, putting in a hell of a lot of, as yet still unpaid, work for this at times slightly deranged client, desperate to avoid homelessness and trying to make bargains with the universe via her mortgage broker. I realise by having that one asset to sell, which cleared my bad debts and gave me a healthy deposit to offset my middle-aged-burnt-out minimum wage, that I am luckier than many in these incredibly tough times. However, it still took a freer thinker than most to secure me a mortgage given my financially woeful past few years. (Timing was really tight and I don't easily fit most lenders' assumptions about borrowers). Marlene was that freer thinker for me. I am delighted to say I will be settling into my new place, and on my new, relatively straightforward, non-guarantor mortgage, in three weeks. That's two whole days before I have to vacate my rental :P Thank you Marlene!
