My wife and I had our first born 19 months ago and while she was on maternity leave I tried to refinance our loan to get a better rate. I was told from one broker that we needed to wait until my wife went back to work. About 7 months later, my wife went back to 2 days a week. I was told by a broker that she will need to do more days. A couple months later, my wife started to work 3 days a week. I asked the broker again and got the same answer that she needed to do more days. A few months went by and my wife began working 4 days a week and we got the same answer from a total of 3 brokers. I did find this odd and got me thinking that even if my wife worked 7 days a week I would get the same answer. All 3 brokers said the banks have all tightened up since the recent royal commission and recent regulations from APRA, but It still didn't make sense as my wife and I both had pay rises and were generating more income before our daughter was born. A few weeks ago, I went into Carlingford shopping centre to do some shopping and I noticed Aussie Home Loans Carlingford shop front and made an appointment. The following days I went into their shop front and spoke with Ziad who is the broker of the store. He obtained the relevant documents and informed me that he will be able to help me. Yesterday I went back into the shop front and signed the paperwork for a new loan with a much better rate. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Ziad and his team,
